So, Silent Hill. I liked it but at the same time ran into some problems. What is the motivation for me as a player to continue into town? At any point in the early parts you could just turn around and walk all the way through the cemetery and back to your car. I actually did that once and kept hitting spacebar to just drive home. The character's motivation of self-punishment is entirely understandable but that should be explained earlier on. It's very apparent that there is no wife worth finding pretty much seconds in. Hell, at least wait for the fog to blow over.
And then you have a supporting cast of contradictions. Oh look, Maria is getting mauled by Pyramid Head.
Oh look, Maria is on the other side of that gate unharmed!
Oh look, she's dead again.
Oh look, she's crying for help, again unharmed!
Oh look, those danged Pyramid twins got her.
Oh look, there she is again, completely unharmed!
Oh no, she's really evil. I totally did not see that coming.
Silly James.
I wish I could hate that little girl Laura to death. She's innocent enough to not see any monsters but then is able to set up traps for me that depend on her knowing they exist. That's just wrong.

I saw the local chorus today. They weren't bad, but they weren't good either. Just fair. Most of the songs were borrowed from movies, plays, and church. It's all volunteers, and all were at least 45. The performance and food were free, so I can't complain too much.
